Jelena Korać Prlić is an Associate Professor at the Department of Immunology and Medical Genetics, School of Medicine, the University of Split since 2013. where she participates in research and teaching. She graduated in Molecular biology from the Faculty of Science, the University of Zagreb in 2007. and Medical Biochemistry at Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, University of Zagreb, in 2011. She received her PhD in 2013. at the School of Medicine, the University of Split, under the supervision of Prof. Ivan Đikić with PhD thesis “The role of optineurin in autophagic clearance of protein aggregates in neurodegenerative diseases”. During her PhD, she was visiting student at the Medical Faculty of the Goethe University, Frankfurt. After her PhD, she worked as a postdoc on the project of prof. Dr Janoš Terzić "The role of inflammation in the development of bladder cancer" (HRZZ).
Her research interests are focused on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms of inflammation-induced bladder cancer development and the role of immune cells in that. Research is done on BBN mice model for bladder cancer using knock-out and conditional knock-out mice models targeting genes involved in inflammation. Currently, she is the leader of the HRZZ project " Immunomodulatory role of mast cells and eosinophils in bladder cancer microenvironment".
