Who can be a mentor?
Criteria for mentors
According to the School rules, a mentor needs to have a PhD and to have an academic position of a researcher or a teacher. A mentor also has to be productive scientist and minimal criteria set by the School are that a mentor needs to have at least 3 publications indexed in the Current Contents in the last 5 years in a research area that is subject of the proposed thesis topic.
A mentor does not need to be affiliated with the University of Split School of Medicine. Any researcher fulfilling the criteria, regardless of his or her working place, can be a mentor at the TRIBE program. One of the first doctoral thesis defended within the TRIBE program was conducted under a
mentorship of a professor from the USA.
