Call for applicants and application procedure for admission into 2026/2027 Medical Studies in English
Eligibility
Applicants who completed secondary school education and passed final exams are eligible to apply for admission (total duration of previous education - 12 years minimum).
Deadline for application
- 22 May 2026 - candidates who completed their secondary education before 31 Dec 2025
- 1 July 2026 - candidates who completed / are completing their secondary education in 2026
Due to a large number of applications and time needed to process the applications, we encourage you to apply
as early as possible.
Application process
Step 1: Contact the School of Medicine
Send an e-mail to
student_office@mefst.hr with the subject: Application for “your name”
Attach:
- Application form (select only one category - see box below)
- CV in English with photo
- Motivation letter in English
- Proof of nationality (copy of passport or ID)
- Birth certificate
- Degree certificates (secondary education transcripts and final / leaving certificate)
- Proof of application fee payment in amount of 200,00 EUR

- Proof of knowledge of English language
- Transcript of records from a completed university program in the field of biomedicine and health
Category 1: students attend all 6 years of the Program at the USSM
Category 2: students attend first 3 years of the Program at the USSM and the last 3 years at the USSM collaborative teaching organization Sana Kliniken in Coburg, Germany
It is not possible to apply for both categories and categories cannot be changed after enrolment. |
Step 2: Register through the Central Admission Office (CAO) - “Postani Student” portal

www.postani-student.hr)

Candidates who are reapplying
Candidates who registered last year and already have a profile in Postani Student portal, shouldn't register again but log in with their existing credentials from last year.

Online request for recognition
Candidates who completed their secondary education outside EU (unless they have an IB degree) need to complete the online request for recognition found in their personal profile on postani-student.hr under “Novosti” section. |
You will receive your user data for Postani Student profile to the phone number entered in the form. In case you did not receive your user data, please contact Central Admissions Office (CAO):
► All applicants must send required documents by post (priority mail with a tracking number) to be considered for admission to the Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE) - Central Admission Office (CAO):
- certified copy of passport (for foreign citizens who do not have a Croatian OIB)
- certified copies of report cards / transcripts for all four years of secondary school (or three years for applicants who completed their secondary education in a country that has a three-year long secondary education)
- certified copy of the final high school report card / final certificate

Translating documents
Documents have to be translated to Croatian or English by a certified court interpreter if secondary education was completed outside the EU. Documents in one of the languages of the EU do not have to be translated. Documents in Serbian, Montenegrian or Bosnian Latin script do not have to be translated. |
Ordinary photocopies or scanned documents without official certification will not be accepted, and the application will be considered incomplete (*check Glossary). |
Step 3: Select our program
Once your grades and personal data have been verified by the Central Admission Office, you will have to log into the Postani Student portal and choose our study program under “Moj odabir” tab (choose: Medicine; be careful not to choose “Medicina” in Croatian language). Check your profile periodically for updates.
Withdrawal of application
If the applicant decides to withdraw their application it is important to delete the selected study program as applicants that receive an enrolment number for a particular study programme are obligated to enrol in that study programme. If applicant does not delete a study programme and achieves right of enrolment on that study programme, and does not enrol, the higher education institution may charge opportunity costs because of the unfilled enrolment position. Those costs, in the amount of one to two thirds of the student's annual participation in the costs of the study. Candidates who do not pay the opportunity costs cannot apply again for a study programme on the same level in the NISpVU system.
To delete your selection log in to Postani student, click on Moj odabir tab and select Obriši.
Annual tuition fee: 12.000 EUR
Tuition fee for the 1st study year must be paid in full within one week from the date of receiving the formal letter of acceptance in the electronic format. Upon completion of the payment, the applicant is officially enrolled. All tuition fees are non-refundable.

Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE) - public institution whose aim is to maintain standards of higher education qualifications and provide continuous support for development of quality of scientific activity and higher education.

Central Admission Office (CAO) - part of the Agency for Science and Higher Education whose task is providing information on requirements for enrolment in higher education institutions in Croatia and verifying secondary education.

Certified copy - a duplicate of an original document that has been verified as an accurate and true representation of the original by an authorized person or entity (usually public notary). Typically, the certified copy will have a statement or stamp from the certifying authority confirming its authenticity.
