Ana Marušić is Professor of Anatomy and Chair of the Department of Research in Biomedicine and Health at the University of Split School of Medicine, Split, Croatia. She also heads the Center for Evidence-based Medicine. Prof. Marušić is the Senior Editor in Chief of the ST-OPEN, University of Split overlay journal. She is the Editor Emerita of the Journal of Global Health and the Croatian Medical Journal. She was the President of the European Association of Science Editors, Council of Science Editors and World Association of Medical Journal Editors. She currently serves at the Council of the Committee on Publication Ethics.
Prof. Marušić is the founder of the Cochrane Croatia and takes responsibility for Research as its Research Coordinator. She has served as the President of the Cochrane Scientific Committee. She also participated in the creation of the Croatian Centre for Global Health at the University of Split School of Medicine. She is on the Advisory Board of the EQUATOR (Enhancing the QUality And Transparency Of Health Research) Network.
Her research interests include evidence-based medicine, and research ethics, integrity and reproducibility. She has a number of significant academic achievements including authorship of more than 400 articles in peer-reviewed journals and was heavily involved with creating the policy of mandatory registration of clinical trials in public registries which helped change the legal regulation of clinical trials worldwide.
Prof. Marušić receives funding from the Croatian Science Foundation and Horizon Europe research grants.
She has received a number of awards for her research, including the Meritorious Award from the Council of Science Editors.
