Summer school: Circadian rythm

Summer school: Circadian rythm

Introduction

Introducing new insights into circadian rhythm research, as well as learning about circadian rhythm disorders in the student population. Disorders of the daily (circadian) rhythm of sleep are a consequence of the desynchronization of the Anchorage and the external rhythm of wakefulness and sleep. Patients usually have insomnia, are too sleepy for a day or both, which is usually resolved after the "internal clock" is adjusted ("reset"). The diagnosis is made clinically. Treatment depends on the cause.

The disturbance of the daily rhythm can be the result of external changes (eg illness of change of time zone, shift work) or internal disturbance of change of day and night of the body itself (eg delayed sleep syndrome).
