Research
The Dental Biomaterials and Oral Care Products is research group that primarily focuses on possible biological side effects of diverse kinds of biomaterials, as well oral care products. So far, we have been investigating the toxicity of dental composites, adhesive systems, and glass-ionomer cements ex vivo on human pulp fibroblast, gingival fibroblasts, and lymphocytes (micronucleus and comet assay). However, all ex vivo studies are conducted under strictly controlled conditions, and those results should be taken with caution. Therefore, we recently focused our research interest on in vivo investigations.
Current research lines include:
  • Biocompatibility of dental biomaterials (dental composites, glass-ionomer cement, dental implants, dental adhesives)
  • Biocompatibility of oral care products (toothpaste)
  • Clinical efficacy and safety of tooth whiting products
